Folklore and Education

Welcome! The Folklore and Education section of the American Folklore Society (AFS), formed in 1988, seeks to serve members through networking opportunities at AFS annual meetings and online, as well as to spotlight and honor essential and outstanding contributions to the field by sponsoring sessions at the AFS annual meetings and awarding monetary prizes. Our membership and range of services extends to schools, historical societies, arts agencies, independent folklorists, and community programs, among others.

The Folklore and Education section awards the Dorothy Howard Folklore and Education Prize and the Robinson-Roeder-Ward Fellowship

The section also publishes the Folklore and Education Newsletter.
